CHEM 152: Lab Report
SOC 110: Survey of Sociology
This is one of my favorite classes at the UW by far. I thoroughly enjoyed every lecture by Professor Jonathan Wender. I hadn't taken any sociology class before so I didn't know what to expect, and according to fellows who had taken the class the reading was difficult, but Professor Wender made everything easier by using tangible examples in reality to explain abstract concepts; and vice versa, he asked us to "exoticize the familiar" that happens everyday in our lives. This class is a broad assemble of topics, from "Reflecting on Modern Self-Identity and Social Encounters", "Sociopolitical and Cultural Implications of Collective Fear" to "Surveillance Society". Moreover, as part of service learning for this course, I have been volunteering with the Seattle World School, helping ethnic minority immigrant youth to develop their English and teaching Science subjects like Math or Physics until now and I absolutely enjoy it! Students who did the service-learning were asked to write about their experiences, applying scholarly sociological research and attached is my essay.
